S's adoption story

S's Story - We were blessed to adopt S when she was a newborn. When we realized getting pregnant was not happening for us, we felt like we should adopt. We had our paperwork in for a while when our social worker called us and told us she needed to talk to us. She told us there was some paperwork that we needed to sign, and that she would come meet us at our home. However, when she arrived she handed us a letter from a young woman who told us she wanted  us to be the parents of her daughter. We were so excited and couldn't wait to meet her in person. Later that week we were able to meet our daughter's birth mom. Over the next couple of months we were able to get to know her a little better. On the day S was born we rushed to the hospital anxious to meet our little girl. S spent three days in the hospital with her birth mom, and on the third day we had placement. Placement was both a happy and sad day for us. We were happy to be parents and be able to bring our sweet little girl home, but sad because we knew that her birth mom  was going through one of the most difficult times in her life. Over the next couple of months we were able to meet with S's birth mother and we were able to continue building a relationship with her. We have enjoyed the contact we still maintain with S's birth mom and feel it has been a benefit to all of our lives.
